平沼正仁 / Masahito HIRANUMA
Hiranuma started to develop his style of painting while working in Tokyo and Paris Fashion Week as a curator, production assistant, stylist, and sound designer. Hiranuma travelled to France to learn more about contemporary art trends in the 1990s. He had his debut at Paris PROCREART in 1994 and developed his unique style while working in Paris.
After returning to Japan in 1998, Hiranuma started to hole solo exhibitions in Yokohama while engaging in other creative guerrilla works between his shows. From 2013 he began to develop proactively a new series of works based on fashion, geometry and other themes. Hiranuma seeks to evoke joy, pleasure, radiance, and light through his work while at the same time playing with concepts of delight, fun, laughter, liberation, eroticism, and desire. For the artist, the greatest joy comes from the work that emanates a sensation of radiance and light that resonated with his own feeling, leaving an impression on his heart.
